Renee Byrd graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Horticulture and M.S. in Plant and Environmental Science. During her studies at Clemson, Renee developed a passion for plants and the art of landscape design, and focused on sustainable landscape design and landscaping for water quality. She enjoys combining the art and science of landscape design to create beautiful, functional residential and commercial landscape designs that respond to both client and environmental needs.

Renee began her design career while still studying horticulture at Clemson by working with local landscape contractors to develop residential landscape designs for installation. After graduate school, she worked as a research associate in Clemson University's Department of Horticulture and taught undergraduate landscape design courses. She then worked with The Cliffs Communities planning department and continued her landscape design business focusing on residential designs around Lake Keowee and Greenville, SC. In 2013, Renee and her family moved to Cashiers, NC. While most of Byrd Landscape Design's residential design projects are in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, we have traveled across the southeast to work with clients to create functional, sustainable, and beautiful outdoor spaces and experiences tailored to each client and site.
